There’s an undeniable shift underway in the we way consume content and communicate with one another online. According to Cisco, by 2020, about one million minutes of video will cross the internet every second. And just a year later, 82% of all internet traffic will be video.
Video is eating the world.
So why am I telling you this? Because video is huge, not just for consumers. But for businesses. And if we’re truly going to evolve to meet the needs of today’s buyer, we need to get better at selling over video. It’s our job to make buying easier. And video capture software can help with just that in four very specific ways:
- Attention: 59% of executives would rather watch a video than read text. (Wordstream)
- Retention: Viewers retain 95% of a message over video vs. 10% reading text. (Invisia)
- Responses: Emails with video have 4x the CTR than emails without. (Inside Sales)
- Revenue: About 50% of all Drift revenue in 2018 had video in the sales process. (Drift)
The benefits of using video to sell are endless. Precisely why I’m excited to introduce Drift Video, the world’s first enterprise-ready video platform built to make buying easy.

Ready to get started with Drift Video? Try these plays.
To help you get started with Drift Video, we’re sharing 3 key video plays – tried and tested by the Drift team. You can get all of our plays for prospecting, working opportunities and closing deals on Drift Insider.
1. The Attention Grabber
About this play: As a sales rep, nobody wants to talk to you. Instead of just introducing yourself, find something your prospect cares about. Do something early in the video you’re sending them to catch their attention and get a meeting on the books. The point here is to create credibility.
Use case: Prospecting
When to use it: Breaking into a new account or re-engaging cold leads.
2. The Second Chance
About this play: After every single call, you take a couple of minutes to go over how it went. And no matter what, there’s always a moment of “Oh crap, I forget to say something.” So instead of fretting over what you forgot to say, just send a video of what you wish you had said.
Use case: Working an opportunity
When to use it: Following up on a call when you wished you’d said that one last thing.
3. Don’t Let Them Sell For You
About this play: You just got off the call with your champion and they’re bought in, but there are a few pieces of information they need in order to get the deal across the finish line. Rather than sending all of this via email, include everything in a video – making the process easier and more personal. Your champion can simply click play for their CFO, helping you get that deal signed faster.
Use case: Closing deals
When to use it: Pulling out all the stops to get the deal over the finish line.
