BOSTON, MA — April 20, 2020 — Drift, the leading conversational marketing platform, today announced that Todd Barnett has joined the company as Chief Revenue Officer. As CRO, Barnett will oversee all revenue-generating activity as the company continues to expand in the enterprise space. He will report directly to Drift founder and CEO, David Cancel, and be based in the company’s San Francisco office.

An accomplished software executive, Barnett brings to Drift more than 22 years of experience and has a proven track record of leading and motivating high-performing sales teams. He joins Drift from Confluent, where he was also Chief Revenue Officer. In that role he built a world-class, worldwide enterprise sales team, helped grow the company to be among the top 1% of enterprise software startups and brought in some of the largest companies in the world as customers. Prior to Confluent, he held sales leadership roles at Acquia and Emerson Network Power.

“Todd has been instrumental in growing teams and driving enterprise expansion at both Confluent and Acquia,” said David Cancel. “His expertise scaling world-class teams, driving revenue and growth through strategic thinking and customer-first mentality will be invaluable to Drift as we embark on our next chapter of hypergrowth.”

“I am honored to join Drift at such a strategic time,” said Barnett. “The company has experienced dramatic hypergrowth and I’m excited to help it continue to evolve to the next stage of maturity.”

“I was drawn to Drift for three reasons,” Barnett continued. “The incredible team of passionate and highly talented people who take the goal of building a billion dollar business seriously, the opportunity to establish a new category which flips the paradigm of how businesses want to buy, and the alignment of the company’s core values with my own. Drift has the opportunity to do something really amazing, we have only just begun.”

Barnett’s appointment comes during a period of unprecedented growth and momentum for Drift. In the past six months, the company opened its fourth office, in Tampa, grew the team to over 375 people and expanded its executive leadership team with the addition of Tricia Gellman as CMO and the promotion of Dena Upton to Chief People Officer.

“What’s happened in the world over the past few months has required us all to adapt to a new digital reality, and change the way we operate overnight,” added Cancel. “We feel honored to have the opportunity to help our customers navigate this digital-first environment and feel confident we have the team in place to lead the way.”
