BOSTON, MA and TAMPA, FL — December 11, 2019 — Drift, the world’s leading conversational marketing platform, today announced that it has opened an office in Tampa. This news comes as Drift closes out another record-breaking year of growth during which the company wrote the best-selling book Conversational Marketing and launched new products including Drift Video and Drift Automation. In addition, the company expanded the team by over 60% and was recognized with a number of awards including: LinkedIn’s Top 50 Hottest Startups, EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year, Comparably’s Best CEO for Women, Comparably’s top ten CEOs for Diversity, Comparably’s Best Company for Professional Development and Comparably’s Best Leadership Teams.

“Our goal at Drift is to provide the best possible experience for our customers. And as we grow to support our customers’ diverse needs, we recognized that we had to expand our footprint and seek out a location with a budding tech scene and a diverse talent pool,” said founder and CEO David Cancel. “Not only does Tampa have access to students from schools like University of South Florida, University of Tampa and Eckerd College, but in the past five years, tech-related jobs in the Tampa Bay area were up 27.6% and the city has been rated as one of the top places to start a career. We’re excited to capitalize on this pipeline of talent and are committed to investing in the future of the Tampa Bay area.”

Drift plans to hire rapidly in order to meet growing demand as more and more businesses seek to utilize conversational marketing to remove friction from the B2B buying process — and aims to grow the Tampa team to 100 employees by 2021. The Tampa office is the company’s fourth U.S. office; Drift also has offices in Boston, San Francisco and Seattle.

“We could not be more pleased to welcome Drift to Tampa,” said Jeff Vinik, owner of the Tampa Bay Lightning and partner in Strategic Property Partners, which is developing Water Street Tampa. “Having spent meaningful time with Drift’s leadership team, I am convinced they are building a truly next-generation technology company. Their choice of Tampa for their expansion is a major endorsement of our community.”

“Hot on the heels of our ranking as a top 20 ‘tech town,’ Drift’s announcement to expand in Tampa solidifies the fact that our city is on a roll when it comes to attracting top-notch companies and talent,” said Mayor Jane Castor, City of Tampa. “We are beyond excited Drift has chosen Tampa for the creation of new high-quality jobs and we’re excited for the company’s future here.”

“Drift’s exciting announcement confirms Tampa’s rise in the tech industry,” said Craig Richard, president and CEO of the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council. “Our team was pleased to be a part of this project with our valued partners at SPP, Embarc, the city, and county, and we look forward to supporting Drift as it ramps up operations in Tampa.”

Drift’s new office is located at 401 E. Jackson Street in Tampa. The team is hiring for a variety of roles in product, marketing and customer support. To learn more visit www.Drift.com.
