“The Problem Is the Problem A professional does not take success or failure personally. That’s Priority Number One for us now. That our project has crashed is not a reflection of our worth as human beings. It’s just a mistake. It’s a problem—and a problem can be solved.”
― Steven Pressfield, Do the Work
Scale-ups are not easy, scale-ups that grow faster than the market can especially difficult at times. When I am thinking to myself “is this normal” I often go back to books/friends/advice from people who have gone through this in the past. One such book is From Impossible to Inevitable by Jason Lemkin (Founder of Echosign & SaaStr).
This week I want to do something different and highlight passages from this book that I was rereading this weekend.
I’ve had to make a few drastic changes to the company that I believe were needed to better serve our Customers, but I knew would be painful to go through. The pain is worth it to build a better Company but it doesn’t make it easy.
Reading, or in this case rereading, this is helpful and encouraging to me. It reminds me why I’ve made hard decisions to better serve our Customers. It also is a reminder that any periods of pain are temporary and necessary to hit the next step function in our Company’s growth.
What scale-up pain are you feeling right now? How can I help you?
