Hi all —

As a CEO, I believe that my job is to learn. I’m not here to teach.

You may have heard me say this before, but I want to unpack it a bit. I think it’s important so you can get to know me better.

Any Star Trek fans out there?

I’m like Spock. You now, the part-Vulcan, part-human played most familiarly by Leonard Nimoy.

Now I don’t have particularly pointy ears, but I am very logical. Rational. Alien-like. Almost seeming emotionless in some ways.

If you don’t get the Star Trek reference, then let’s talk Myers-Briggs Type Indicators — or personality types.

I’m an INTJ. Introverted. Intuitive. Thinking. Judgemental. It’s one of the rarest personality types — shared with people like Elon Musk, Jane Austen, Jay-Z, and Isaac Newton, to name a few.

I love learning. I crave new knowledge. I look at the world — and problems — in logical and rational terms. If I understand someone’s logic and the way that they think, then I’m all for it.

But, I need evidence.

No matter what your personality, I think it’s important that we’re all curious learning machines. It’s one of the leadership principles Elias Torres and I founded Drift on. And one we practice every day.

Learning more about yourself (even if that’s as simple as finding your personality type) can help you learn how to be a better leader.

So, if you haven’t already, learn your personality type. Share it with your team and encourage them to do the same with you. It’s just another way we can all learn from each other. And keep growing.
