I always have mixed feelings at the start of a new year.

They come and go in waves: Relief knowing I’ve made it despite last year’s obstacles. Excitement for what lies ahead. Anxiety of the unknown.

As I transition back from parental leave, these feelings are stronger than ever. And after the violence this country experienced last week at the US Capitol, I know I’m not alone. But, I encourage you to lean into these feelings, rather than turn away from them. As I’ve discussed in past newsletters, great leaders display empathy. They share their feelings, rather than hide them. So lean in.

In that spirit, to kick off 2021, I’m sharing one last interview with another great leader I admire: Allocadia CMO, Julia Stead.
